Marlins are on top with a 9-5 record. The Phillies are in 3rd with a 8-8 record. The Phillies offense is lead by Chase Utley with 4 homers and Pat Burrell with 19 RBIs. The season has just begun!

Cancer

D-Backs pitcher Doug Davis has thyroid cancer. He will pitch against the Reds in April and will have his surgery a week later. Sorry this has'nt been much of a daily blog but I was on vacation and stuff, but I will try to find a time to make this blog an actual daily baseball blog. The season starts in 1 day 10 hours, 39 minutes and 28 seconds!! I can't wait that long!!

Ya! Baseball is on tv! The Phillies played the Piarates and lost 11 to 6 but Ryan Howard hit one over both fences at Jack Russel Stadium. Only 25 more days until Opening Day!

World Baseball Classic!


Finally! The World Baseball Classic will be held in March of 2009. These teams are definantly going to be in the WBC in 2009-title winner Japan, runner-up Cuba, the U.S., Dominican Republic, Korea, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela. Invitations will be sent to Australia, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Italy, Netherlands, Panama, and South Africa. Excitment!!

The Red Sox sign 1st baseman Sean Casey for a one-year 800,000 dollar contract. He batted .301 for the Detroit Tigers and had 134 hits in 2006. He was also born in Willingsboro, New Jersey.

The Mets sign Johan Santana for 175 million!? Phillies will have to go for the wild card this year. No, I'm not losing faith but they just lost Aaron Rowand and have only a couple good pitchers. So, now the competition is Rockies and Phillies.
